Based in Red Hook, Brooklyn - and now with a new location in TriBeCa - BAKED has always been a tremendous inspiration to me.  The founders and owners, Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito (pictured at left), are just about the coolest guys I know in the business, and in many ways I consider them important baking mentors, and of course, dear friends.  They are well-known for taking classic, homey dessert recipes and putting a fresh, unique spin on them - which is totally what my own personal aesthetic with Neufangled Desserts has been.  

Please check out their website and if you are in the NYC area, visit one or both of their shops.  I promise you will not be disappointed with all of the amazing yumminess contained therein.  Their staff is pretty fantastic too.  I cannot recommend the Baked team enough.
